4/23/2020 – COVID Heat Finale

Heat 1
Helpsy – Helpsy, is a complete, one-stop supportive care solution and the world’s first and only AI-based Symptom And Navigation (SAN) nurse. It provides hands on tools to patients and health care professionals to decrease treatment disruptions and to improve the quality of life and outcomes, while streamlining clinician workflow Website- https://helpsyhealth.com/
Rivertown BioSciences- RiverTown Biosciences, a small biopharmaceutical company in NY has has developed a treatment for Covid-19 lung scarring (aka pulmonary fibrosis). Based on early data from Covid-19 patients, as well as historical data from the related SARs and MERs outbreaks, we can anticipate that a significant number of people infected with COVID-19 will go on to develop pulmonary fibrosis, a permanent and debilitating disease. RT1840 was developed as an inhaled treatment, to deliver the small molecule drug directly into the affected lung tissue. RT1840 treatment reverses the progression of pulmonary fibrosis in models of the disease. This is a clinical phase asset to meet what is anticipated to be a growing problem in patients surviving Covid-19 infection.
Heat 2

wildcards
In first place and one of our wild cards Lincoln Advantage Technologies– Lincoln is the developer of a patented respirator specifically designed to be worn during a pandemic caused by a respiratory based infectious disease. It is designed to be more effective than the currently used N-95 respirator, military style gas mask (NBC), or PAPR (powered air purifying respirator).Beyond front line medical staff and first responders, the device can be used by workers in the “critical infrastructure” segments of a country’s economy, comprised of health, defense, security, energy, finance, transportation, utilities and government at national, state and local levels. It can also be used to protect larger populations before the availability of a vaccine. The patented design has been developed with the assistance of the University of Illinois, University of Chicago Hospitals, Radius Product Development, HS Design, and Argonne National Laboratory among others. Lincoln’s design has been favorably reviewed by the DHS, HHS, DOD, and other agencies. Lincoln currently has fully functional, tested prototypes (TRL 4) and is engaged in further development of the device. The mask requires both FDA and NIOSH approval and is approximately 8-12 months from marketHubspring Health- We have already deployed the COVID Hub to our current clients – they use this Hub as a mission-critical resource. In addition to securely communicating, it is their one-stop-shop for information dissemination. The COVID Hub includes a live facility directory, important COVID related phone numbers (Dept of Health, Infection Control, etc), schedule/shift tracking, COVID patient and symptom tracking, fingertip access to protocols, guidelines, recommendations, and critical updates. We believe the power in the COVID Hub is its ability to share and disseminate critical information in real-time – time and efficiency are not on our side right now- we want to make this tool available to all and as quickly as possible. The platform already experienced bottom-up demand, and top-down support by United Hatzalah, and has been adopted by well-over 100,000 people. By leveraging all users’ location histories, self-reporting, and available and derived epidemiological data, the platform determines the risk of any individual being infected and informs individuals, policymakers, and businesses – in real-time – in a privacy-preserving manner. Hosted by Smart Design
Attendees: 150
See who came here The H2NYC Crowd
The Event:
One of the most difficult aspects of starting or running a business in healthcare is getting your model right. Even once established, regulatory and market forces drive model shifts that few other industries face with such regularity. People say our industry is slow to change – and often in ways that are not adaptive. Most of our creativity and energy are poured into reacting to the changing landscape we operate in. In this event we explored a few of the best new ideas and models in the space and work out some of the challenges in a fun, interactive session led by Michelle Zimmerman, Chief Innovation Officer at Alphacare and formerly at Aetna. Watch the event here.
About our host:

After all the politics and positioning, at the end of the day Hospitals, Doctors, Patients, and Plans need to find ways to make PPACA work and satisfy the triple aims while not going out of business or going bankrupt from medical bills and higher premiums. This event will bring to the stage diverse viewpoints on how this will all work and is currently working for large physician groups, hospitals, plans, and patients, and to discuss new care delivery models, population health, patient engagement and the roles of analytics and mhealth.
Thanks to Meryl Greenblatt, Jack Lin, Jeff Borenstein, Pat Rioux, Michelle Zimmerman, Fard Johnmar, Brent Stackhouse, and Drs. Michael Wolk, Ben Kornitzer, and Eliza Ng. Big thanks to our sponsor Emblem Health as well. Finally, we appreciate all our members and subscribers for the New York Health Innovation Meetup group, without which we would not be able to hold, record, publish, or provide such events.
